Every sitter submits a detailed application covering their childcare experience and certifications, along with three professional references, such as previous families, employers, instructors, or supervisors who can speak to their childcare experience, reliability, and judgment.

Every sitter available for booking holds a current Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED certification, verified before they can be booked and kept current.

A one-on-one interview with a member of our team, the final step in our vetting before a sitter is approved to join the platform.

The Sitter Connection was founded by two DMV locals who worked as sitters in the area ourselves, a Georgetown-trained family physician and a social worker with a master's degree. We watched the same struggle play out family after family: parents unsure where to find sitters they could count on, messaging back and forth only to have a booking fall through at the last minute, while genuinely good, fully vetted sitters went overlooked. So we built what was missing: one trusted source where every sitter is vetted, and booking actually goes through.
Questions families ask us first.
When am I charged the membership fee?
Only after you're approved. If your application doesn't move forward, you're never charged.
How far in advance should I book?
Up to two months ahead, or as last-minute as four hours before. The earlier you book, the lower the booking fee.
What ages do sitters care for?
Newborns through age 13.
Can I request the same sitter every time?
Yes. Favorite preferred sitters and build a small rotation of two or three you trust.
